Prue Halliwell FASHION-Season One part 1 Xx

I’m going age order season by season for each sister ! I don’t have a set number of looks I’m doing just any and all of my faves !

Season one isn’t my favourite for fashion I must say so it’s a bit of an uphill battle lol. Saying that in planning this I’ve realised I actually do like a lot more of these looks than I thought I did !

Season one Prue is very much business-boss girly at first but honestly the sisters all kinda dress a like at first so they don’t really develop their individuality until a little bit later this season!!!

watching charmed for the first time to fill the buffy shaped hole in my heart -- episode 3

not my fave so far, at least plot-wise. i mean, it was kinda dumb. but i loved the character drama that came out of it.

the “sisters” “tell me about it” moment and the way piper and phoebe look at prue was really funny.  

also, prue & phoebe's hug? so cute.  

and phoebe locking prue in the room was really funny too.  

phoebe’s premonition about the shapeshifters stealing the book at the end is so funny, 'cause in it they just cross the street, look over their shoulders, and giggle like they’re mean girls who just stole someone’s candy.

ewwww. i hate their dad. how do you not recognize your own daughter? the whole massage scene is so yuck. weird. uncomfortable. please stop. while i do understand phoebe and piper's desire to be close to him again, i can’t help but be on prue's side, y'know? i liked that, at the end, it’s revealed that their dad isn’t evil, he’s just a shitty dad. at least he’s not plotting world domination. yay?

i can really feel that distance and conflict between prue and the others in this episode. even when her sisters are trying to encourage her to do something positive (relax at a party and date andy, who she’s so obviously into), prue reacts in a pretty hostile manner. i think she thrives on control, and the whole witch thing is not really allowing her to have that anymore, so she’s throwing herself into her work maybe. on the other hand, it seems like she’s just avoiding having a personal life for some reason?

piper 

she really just wants everything to be ‘normal.’ she’s also always trying to keep the peace, and in this episode, it feels like she’s really under strain to do that. it must be very draining, and i wish the others would try a bit harder to find some middle ground. meet her halfway.

A/N: Day 5 for @dailycharmed 's Prue Week. A little what if for actually my fave siblings.

Piper’s pain had been so visceral that even beyond her reach Prue felt it. The same yanking pain that had always led her to Piper’s side, led her to care for her, looking after her little sister. She knew, too well, what was happening. Piper had been broken completely for a while, now she was trying to pull herself back together.     She’s barely corporeal when they send her back, some greater wisdom allowing her a day. A day to fix things, as much as she could. Piper had woken up  to her watching her sleep, startled enough to almost cry out before falling silent.     “Prue?”    “Piper.... you can’t keep punishing yourself.”    “I miss you...”    “I know, I know you do.”    Prue’s voice is soft, honest and gentle.    “You are still the same strong girl you always were, Piper. My middle sister, the strongest girl I ever knew. You will be okay.”    She’s gone the next time Piper wakes, the only proof she was ever there a framed photo on her bedside table, and the last message Prue ever left, reminding Piper to be strong.

Is Paige your favourite sister? Your URL made me wonder is all lol

Okay, so full admission, in case anyone hasn't picked up on it yet. @phoebehalliwell almost singlehandedly inspired me into creating a full on Charmed sideblog, and you can absolutely tell bc I 100% based what I was doing on her when I first started. Nowadays, I like to think that I'm being slightly more original but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Part of that was, clearly, the URL bc I looked at the URL box when I was creating the blog and just screeched in unholy panic and doing the most blatant ripoff you've ever seen, complete with b-movie incorrect spelling. (in my defense, the actual spelling was taken!)

but the reason I picked Paige was bc she was definitely my childhood favorite! Admittedly, the reason she was my childhood favorite is bc she was a redhead like me lmao. (look, my first time watching Charmed was when I was an actual child, that was my only requirement for a character to be my favorite.) Nowadays, she probably ties with Prue in regards to my favorite sister!

Admittedly, I'm always a sucker for the untapped potential and Paige has a lot! I'd have to loved to see more storylines focus on her, especially in regards to her past, her powers/heritage, and her forging her path into the magical world.

However, I also just really like her as a character. She's a very creative and compassionate character, and I loved her arc about discovering her inner Whitelighter. She had a very genuine love of magic like Phoebe in the early seasons, but while Pheebs had more of a personal gain thing going on (which I'm not dissing!), Paige had more of that desire to help.

I also liked how Paige, who lost her family and... forgot, for lack of a better term, what it was like to have one, clashed with the sisters initially but also was able to help Piper through her grief over losing Prue and created these relationships with her newfound sisters. I'm also a sucker for how she met Henry, someone who got it in ways that her sisters could never really grasp fully, and they created their own family as well. As rushed as s8 was, I like that Paige's journey on the show was not only joining a family but choosing to invite someone into hers to create another, if that makes sense.

Honestly, I don't really know if I have a super concrete reason for why Paige is my favorite, but just like. the vibes. I definitely named my blog after her bc she was my childhood fave, but I also adore her so I think it works out. She's definitely a fun character to make aesthetics (along with being the next character whenever I get around to my next Warren Witch Project witch) and write for (also known as she's the main character in one of my main four WIPs rn).

Also, redheads still tend to be my favorite characters lmao.

How would you rank the four Charmed sisters from your favorite to least favorite and why? I love them all so this is a very big challenge for me :) Also, which seasons were your favorite? I think I'd pick 4 and 1 (in that order), which are not popular opinions, but I'm weird :)

Phoebe (Love her so muuuuch and her relationship with Cole is one of my favorites in the whole world. I also love how she had the comedic side to the character but also had really good growth too.)

Piper (Love free-spirited characters but I also thought that what they did with her after Prue's death when she had to step up was really well done too and still felt true to the character.)

Paige (She was okay. She wasn't bad, but like, being the fourth sister who was suddenly brought in, even though they still counted as three, felt a bit weird to me.)

Pru (I never really connect with tough, kickass leader types. I don't know why. I wasn't really sad when her death gave Piper especially space to step up.)

Fave seasons are: Three, cause hello Cole! and Four because of Cole and Phoebe's marriage even if it doesn't end well.

Who is your favorite Charmed sister and why?

This is a bit tricky because I watched it when I was a teen and back then Phoebe was my fave. But watching it today I totally feel for both her and Prue 🫣. I love Phoebe’s rebellious, spontaneous nature but also Prue’s boss bitch personality because you know that as the older sister she has to take care of everyone and wants what best for them

I’ve heard a lot about charmed because I’ve attempted to watch it in 2013 (I believe) but Netflix took it off 😭.

Right now I love all three of the sisters equally, because I understand them all on different levels. S3 (I’m only on episode 5) I can easily say will be my fav. Cause I’m happy that Prue is finally able to be free & not in constant worry due to her being an older sister. Piper/Leo being able to date freely, even though the founders/elders are watching. And lastly, this new guy named Cole & Phoebe chemistry is dominating I fear!

Why?: I honestly really love both trios, but I loved Prue so much! She was always my 2nd fave sister and I loved her as a big sister. Her death was so painful, albeit necessary (can you imagine if they just recast Prue???) in some ways, I guess. And both Phoebe and Piper’s character growth was so heavily influenced by the loss of their sister and each of them being “upgraded” in the sibling ranks. There were two factors that played a big part in my attachment to Paige: first, season 4 is the first Charmed season I ever saw. I don’t know how I would’ve reacted to her otherwise, because my second favourite is Prue, and I’m noticeable petty about characters “replacing” my faves lmfao. But this is how it came down to, and I’m glad for it.

The second factor is that I had a MASSIVE proto-crush on Paige LMFAOOO.

Like. Massive. I thought she was sooooo pretty and sooooo cool. The episode where she turned into a vampire most definitely awakened something in me (or re-awakened, because I had met 1960′s Morticia Addams by then lol).

I love how fierce she is, how creative and clever, how enthusiastic she is about magic and how she turns it into a vocation (in several ways), how defiant and stubborn she could be, how she often liked to do her own thing TM. How off-beat she was sometimes too lol.

Her plots remain some of the most memorable parts of the show for me, ngl. Like when she went back to her teenage years, or the alternate timeline wished by Cole. Or the evol sorceress she was in her past life. And IMO, she and Kyle were, short-lived as they were, the best romance that show served, bar none (*shakes fist to the sky*).

One of my biggest frustrations with the show was in fact how disappointing most of her other love interests were lmfao (We Don’t Talk About Henry, period). Other than Kyle I think the only decent ones were the Mr. Right one and her childhood sweetheart smh. I also remember liking the mentor-mentee dynamic she had with Billie (those are my weakness), but I have mixed feelings on that whole thing and season 8 as a whole, so I’ve never rewatched. No idea of how I’d react to it now.

💖+ Charmed (1998)

You would probably expect me to say one of the sisters, and while watching the show this was true. My first fave was Prue and after she died, it was Paige. If I had to put both of them in balance, I am not sure which one would win. I think maybe Paige, as she has a few edges.

Speaking of edges, one of them also happens to be my Ultimate Fave in this show: Kyle Brody. I absolutely adore his storyline, his ending (why didn't he come back on the show?!), his ship with Paige, his relentless fight against the Avatars and Leo. And guess what? HE WAS RIGHT! Both about the Avatars being evil and Leo being in league with them.

His was the Charmed arc that hit me the hardest and even gave me a few ideas -that I doubt I will write soon. How could he not be #1.

don't you think that the leads lost their charm in later seasons? prue was actually very annoying bc of her 'imma superwitch i'll save everyone yadayadayada'. piper's development was great, but costume department made her look boring bc of wearing almost the same clothes. phoebe.. no offence, but no, although she's my fave. paige was a bit better, but i needed more facts. and leo, my poor guy, you were promising. what's your opinion? thank you 😘

i know the popular belief in the show was “they left s3 open ended so they could figure out whether or not they were firing shannen or alyssa” but let’s be real,,, s3 had a strong focus on phoebe, especially in regards to her love interest, and that was strongly implied in the s3 finale to continue to be an ongoing thing, whereas prue wouldn’t get a li to stick around from more than like two episode. i strongly believe that the writers knew they were killing off prue and because of this they put her character on the back burner, giving piper an offensive power and phoebe a complex li, and only really bringing prue to the forefront for “death takes a halliwell”. 

i really like piper’s development, i know some people argue that she sorta does s4 than stops but i think her growing as a sister and a mother wer both very strong plotlines (that being said almost every single “i want a life without magic” kick sucked but hey you can’t win em all). but in this you’ve actually hit on one of my key beefs with the show which is MAKE PIPER HOT. they were all running around like phoebe’s so sexy paige is so sexy, piper’s a mom like?????? they consistently played piper as the dowdy unimpressive one like pardon?? have you seen hmc????? now, my lil conspiracy theory was this was actually strongly driven by the fact that piper was first a) a married woman and b) a mother, and because of that, she shouldn’t be stuntin on em hoes, but this isn’t the 1950s yknow like if prue could range from neutral tones and practical cardigans to classic 90s crop tops there is simply no reason piper couldn’t as well.

phoebe............ oh phoebe what did they do to you? all i have to say is once brad kern took over phoebe tanked. her relationship with cole being her driving factor for like two seasons, then the desperate need for a child for the next two, it was like some horrible sexist caricature of what phoebe once was. i really do think alyssa tried to salvage phoebe and really keep her spirit alive when the writed simply proceeded to yeet her from one love interest to another, but the actresses themselves complained that they were all very far removed from the writing + creative processes as a whole, even as producers (it bc brad kern hates women!!)

paige’s development on the show was... fine, i guess, but its nothing compared to what they didn’t show us. punk rock alcoholic paige who witnesses her parents death, lands herself in uc berkely, cleans up her act, become a successful if not scatterbrained social worker And Then finds a long lost family?? yeah we barely got any of that. we got some growth in like,, responsiblity + opening up to family, but the fact that her pendulum tended to swing so violently from full-time witch to grand purpose outside of magic just felt like they never really had a true vision of who paige was at her core.

and then, of course, leo. ...... he was uhh.. y’know like what’s leo’s signature personality trait? what’s at his core? kind? because they definitely lost sight of that in the later seasons. loves piper? in almost every alternate timeline they were like divorce (which is another thing i have beef with). the thing with leo is he was either a deus ex machina or filler. we never truly got to see him shine out on his own as all of his plotlines were almost always tied to his relationship with piper. furthermore, i think he had a big case personality by plot, in which he would be come unnecessarily rude and/or unhinged in the later seasons, and i thought the original vision of a loving + supportive and genuinely kind man at his core was so severely betrayed by a certain showrunner who only knew how to move his plots forward through relationship drama.....................
